The European Commission recently adopted a resolution on power adapter of laptop,notebbok, modem and cordless phone!
These external power supply are usually rectangular plastic block,and change outlet power into low voltage for devices. The external power supply waste a lot of energy in the form of emmitting excess heat!
According to "The New York Times", the European Commission said the new regulations will be implemented before 2011, then it will change the way of power converter to improve the device itself (even in battery mode) efficiency.
Not long ago, the EU also issued a series of other measures which aimed at improving the light bulbs, white goods, hidden equipment efficiency. like white goods including washing machines, dryers and other hidden devices, home heating system, water cycle, etc.. In order to reduce household energy bills, consumers may tend to buy such updated equipment!
But the provision begs the question: in the future, consumers are likely to upgrade to a completely different (and perhaps more environmentally friendly) equipment, there are many consumers do not bother looking for the old equipment and purchase new accessories equipment.
EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs and spokesman Ferran Tarradellas insisted that consumers should be aware of the benefits of green wire and cable. He said that if the use of new cable, consumers run the device can reduce 30% of electricity consumption.
Ferran Tarradellasalso said that in the long run, enhancing the performance of external power supply standard means that before 2020 the European Union can save enough electricit which can be use 1year for Lithuania!
