What is the difference between power adapter and charger?

1,Working Principle
At present, most of the civilian power adapters and chargers that we can access are switching mode power supplies. The main principle is to use modern electronic technology to control the ratio of the on-off time of the MOSFEET, so as to realize the conversion of the AC input current into the DC output current.

2, Appearance,size,efficiency and other aspects
Power adapters and chargers have the same features in most aspects like compact size,high efficiency,working condition,and others.

Differences between power adapters and chargers:

Firstly,a power adapter is a charger?A positive answer is that a power adapter is not equivalent to a charger when charging battery.

From the perspective of what needs to be achieved,power adapters focus on providing stable and pure power for electrical appliances, industrial equipment, etc., but chargers focus on providing the exact volume of charging current and charging time for the battery of the device.

During this process the chargers pay more attention to the control of the current value, voltage value and charging time during charging. But for laptops, the power adapter can be equated with a charger.

When you use power adapters to charge batteries,most probably the batteries will be damaged.

So,from above we can see that the power adapters cann't substitue chargers when charging batteries if there is no BMS before batteries.
